 Ordinary Meeting

 Thursday 21 March 2019

St Ninian's Conference Room, Isle of Whithorn

 

Present:  Marion Sunderland (MS), Chair; Hugh Jaques (HJ) Vice-chair; Jon Martin, Treasurer (JM);  Noreen Raines, Minutes Secretary (NR); Diane Collins; Liz Kiltie (LK); Irene Matier (IM); Lynne Scott (LS); Cllrs. Jim McColm (JM); Graham Nicol (GN); and Police Scotland.

 

1. Apologies: Ruby Bell; Hugh Jaques; Jack Niblock.

 

2. Minutes of previous meeting: were approved.

 

3. Matters arising: (a) Mobile(smart meter) communications: no action as yet; (b) Defibrillator: notices to be put up in phone box – action JM to draw up wording; (c) Scottish Power: RB still waiting for date of visit; (d) Gala Accounts: these have been inspected by Peter Huxtable and all is in order, JM will hold accounts until new Gala Committee formed for 2019; (e) Derelict Buildings: demolition work will start next week, William Turnbull will take away wood etc., K Vance the rubble and A Scoular may take some waste.

 

4. Police report: (a) Isle: nothing to report from the village this month; (b) Police Surgery: held in the Steam Packet – not attendance, next surgery to be held June/July in St Ninian's Hall; (c) 101 and 999: some problems with answering, but assurances were given re prompt responses for both numbers; (d) Operation Gamble: information will be forwarded to RB – public warned to be vigilant re on-line and web cam scams; (e) Dog fouling at Children's Play Area at Boyach: LK reported concerns about this – action – Police willspeak to the Community Safety Team.

 

5. Secretary/Correspondence: RB reported Items available to CC members: (a) Admin grant: MS received email that grant of  £462.85 was confirmed – not yet in bank account; (b) Kilsture Forest: notice of meeting at Sorbie Village Hall re future of the forest; (c) Street Cleaning Community Conversation: event 10/4/19 – JM to attend; (d) Cycle Routes: info re enhanced routes – action JM; (e)Seaweed farm, Isle of Whithorn: not going ahead; (f) Scottish Planning Survey: on line survey re policy development up to 2050; (g) Community Councils Monthy: This is in April 2019.

 

6. Treasurers Report: No change on February's report.

 

7. Reports: No reports for this meeting.

 

8. AOCB:  (a) Dog fouling – see item 4(e) above – also N Scott to be informed; (b) Skiff: funds received and report to be made to next meeting; (c) Post Master: still vacant with no volunteers coming forward – also possibnility of closure during March – Isle Futures meeting 22/3/19.
