S W I MEETING

Editor: Judy Brown. Added: Monday, June 11, 2018.

SWI Meeting 4th. June 2018

 “Days Gone By”

Kirsty Robertson & Wendy McPhillips told us how the Museum came to be. The newly formed Museum Trust bought the former St. John’s Church. In1978 the Newton Stewart Museum was born. Helen Drew brought together a vast number of artefacts which formed the initial heritage display.

Kirsty & Wendy explained how the museum continued to expand and was in need of more storage space.  They brought many interesting artefacts from Museum for us to see, touch, guess there use and admire the craftsmanship of the past. Many of the items reminded us of our youth, alas now long gone!

Noreen Raines gave a heartfelt vote of thanks to Kirsty & Wendy and suggested that we visit the Museum.

Next meeting: 3rd. September 2018 “The Fabulous Fifties with Dolly.”

Competition:   Your favourite necklace.
