Ordinary Meeting

Thursday 21 September 2017

St Ninian's Conference Room, Isle of Whithorn

Present: Marion Sunderland (MS); Hugh Jaques, Vice-chair (HJ); Jon Martin (JM); Treasurer; Diane Collins (DC); Fiona Farr (FF); Irene Matier (IM); Noreen Raines (NR), Minutes Secretary);  Cllrs Katie Hagmann (KH), Jim McColm (JMM) and Graham Nicol (GN); also PC W Dodds.

 1. Apologies: Ruby Bell; Liz Kiltie; Jack Niblock

 2. Minutes of previous meeting: approved.

 3. Matters arising: (a) Resilience: MS reported that the shed now purchased to be installed by 19 October; (b) Harbour: matter ongoing; (c) Hall wall: mater ongoing; (d) Dog fouling: a person fined recently and a visit by the warden highlighted another case; (e) Bus stop yellow lines: still unresolved; (f) Merchant Navy Day: Flag was raised by Capt Niblock at the Sailing Club on 3 September at a well-attended event; (g) Beach cleaning: Morag Roberts was thanked for her continuing work.

 4. Police report: PC Dodds attended and reported one assault. He also reported a new poster campaign re violence; and a second campaign about children's restraint seats.

 5. Secretary/Correspondence: meeting on 24 October – Items available to CC members: (a) Community Council Federation:action: IM will attend; (b) Drop-in events: KH  reported that events were being held re resources – people to choose their own packages for care; (c) Waste Collection: JMM reported that a report on the waste collection experience was awaited.

6. Treasurers Report: Admin account: £503.61 (£394.61 balance; fireworks £109.00). General account: £4,461.79 (Resilience Fund £3,496.40, Fireworks £259.00, balance £706.39). Fireworks total now stands at £368.00.

7. Reports: No reports.

8. AOCB: (a) Fireworks: fund-raising quiz to be held 29 September; insurance required – Action: RB;(b) Roads: repairs on road to Burrowhead not yet done – Action: RB; Wreath: HJ had ordered; (d) Community Growing Space: FF enquired re progress; JM soil to be tested, work is in progress; (e) Gala: JM reported that the nmess on the Harbour left after the Gala would be cleared away and that he had cleaned the sea drains.

9. Date of AGM and next meeting: Thursday 19 October 2017.
