The Isle of Whithorn

Editor: Marion Sunderland. Added: Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

One of the "stars" of the next series of "Strictly Come Dancing", was in the Isle this week to film an episode of "Walks with my Dog". The Reverend Richard Coles and his miniature dachshund Audrey were filmed walking from St. Ninian's Cave to the Isle . En route, Richard spoke to Ian Sunderland about the filming of "The Wicker Man" in 1973,in which Ian was an extra .

A short clip of the cult film ,the opening sequence, was shown at Saint Ninian's Hall, where Richard and Audrey met Ash--.another miniature dachshund , famous in his role in "Wee McAsh to the Rescue". The projectionist was a young Machars Movies member, Sarah Sunderland.

The film crew, who numbered around 12, loved the area. So look out for "Walks with my Dog!". Possibly Channel 4.
