SWI Meeting & AGM 31st. October

The President, Dorothy McIlwraith welcomed everyone to the Meeting & AGM. She had recently visited our members who have been unwell and was able to report their progress.      The Federation Show was highly successful and reported a surplus of £708-41. Margaret Hallam and Diane Collins went along to help on the day.                                                                                             National Quiz & Matters of Opinion are being held in Douglas Ewart High School, Newton Stewart on  Saturday 5th. November. Quiz starts at 11am. Eleven teams will take part and  Glenluce WI will represent Wigtownshire. Six teams will contest “A Matter of Opinion”  at  2pm. We will be represented by Glasserton WI.  The Federation Show will be held in Luce Valley Church Hall on Saturday 3rd. December. Competitions are:- a)  3 Cheese oven scones, and b) hand knitted slippers. Saturday 26th. November 2016,  1.30-3.30pm – Annette  Torbet is organising a Knit-in in Luce Valley Church Hall. Scarves, beanies, squares for blankets are acceptable. All welcome.                             Sunday 4th. December 2016, 6.30pm. for 7pm. Tickets £10 each available from Lorraine Mair on 01387 830 223 or 07719580218.RHET Concert. The Farmers Wives Choir performing in Crighton Church, Dumfries. This charity educates children 3-18yrs. on food, farming and the countryside.  Federation Centenary Exhibition 5th.-18th. April 2017 in  Royal Scots Club, Abercromby Place, Edinburgh & also HQ. Items for display to Jennifer Brodie by December meeting. It has been suggested this might be a good venue for the 2017 Federation Outing. Ask  members for consensus of opinion.

SWI Isle of Whithorn, will hold their Christmas party on 5th. December 2016, at Saint Ninian’s, 6.30pm. for 7pm.

Next Meeting:  January 9th. at 7.30pm.

AGM. 2016.

President, Dorothy McIlwraith, reported a satisfactory year, with everyone  playing  their part, be it as Meeting  Manger, Tea lady, or anything else required. Membership Fee £16-00, Visitors £2-00. Conference room fees raised from £7-00 to £10-00 per hour.

Our Treasurer, Margaret Hallam, (our very real treasure for 14yrs.)  decided to retire. She was presented with a beautiful bouquet, and thanked for all her help over the years. Diane Collins has agreed to be our new treasurer. All other posts remain the same.
