The Isle of Whithorn

I May 2019

Editor: Judy Brown. Added: Wednesday, May 09, 2018.

Our President, Dorothy McIlwraith welcomed both visitors and members to this film and talk  called “Memories of the Isle of Whithorn”

Bob Rowley showed Mike Marshall’s compilation of old village photographs, including some from the Young Roots Project. This film was a vivid reminder of how things used to be, a real trip down memory lane. In some cases, there were photographs showing three or more generations of a family. The activities we enjoyed as children in the days before laptops & mobile phones. The various school photographs showed  how we have aged---some better than others!!

Hugh Jaques then told us the aims of the Heritage Group, to trace how old the houses are, who lived in them way back, where the numerous pubs and shops were situated. Let us help this group by providing  old photographs, family histories, reminiscences etc.

Elma Carle thanked Bob, Hugh & the ladies who provided teas for a most enjoyable evening.

Next meeting:- Monday 4th. June.
