Report from Isle Hamefairin’ 2011

2011 Hamefairin'

This year's Isle of Whithorn's Hamefairin' Food and Craft fair took place on Sunday 10th July attracting a record number of exhibitors. In addition to the event being well attended by the public, it proved highly successful for commercial exhibitors judging by statements taken from the exhibitors survey such as; "Friendly as ever; excellent organisation; splendid turnout; any problems sorted out immediately; fantastic event well organised".

As well as country crafts and specialist gifts this year, exclusive designed jewellery, bags, hats and scarves, baby wear and children's books were featured. A wide range of pottery products, ceramic wear, porcelain pots, and plates were featured for sale as well as soft furnishings, photography art, floral items, and locally grown plants and shrubs. A wide range of prepared foods and speciality drinks products, with locally reared meats, farm cheeses, home baking, specialist chocolates, and continental deli produce were on offer. Once again, live brass band music added to the relaxed atmosphere and displays of line dancing and Tai Chi were enjoyed in the glorious sunshine. Pancakes from the griddle and delicious cream teas again proved a great success!

The planning committee greatly appreciated the support provided by the many community groups and sponsors. In addition, thanks to the wonderful team of volunteers from within and around the Isle without whom each year it would not be possible to hold the event.

The Isle looks forward to welcoming you to the 2012 Hamefairin' on Sunday 8th July.
